Questions about private GP care?
We're here to help
Is this an online or in-person service?
This service is currently delivered via secure remote video consultation. In-person appointments will be available in Manchester in the near future.
What type of problems is this service suitable for?
This service can be used for both focused, one-off consultations and longer-term health concerns. Some people book for a specific issue or second opinion, while others benefit from a more in-depth, ongoing lifestyle medicine approach.
How is this different from a standard GP appointment?
Appointments are longer and more in-depth, allowing time to explore symptoms, medical history and lifestyle factors together. The focus is on understanding what’s driving health issues and creating a clear, personalised plan rather than quick fixes.
Can you order tests or investigations?
Yes. Where clinically appropriate, investigations such as blood tests or imaging can be arranged and results reviewed as part of your care.
Can you prescribe medication?
Yes. Private prescriptions can be issued where appropriate following a consultation.
Can you write referral letters?
Yes. Referral letters to private specialists can be provided where clinically appropriate. Support for NHS referrals may also be offered depending on circumstances.
Can you provide fit notes (sick notes)?
Where clinically appropriate, fit notes can be provided as part of a consultation. These are issued based on clinical judgement and are not guaranteed.
What’s the difference between a one-off consultation and ongoing care?
A one-off consultation provides clarity, reassurance and a structured plan. Ongoing care offers continuity, regular review and ongoing support, which is often more effective for lifestyle-related and long-term health concerns.
Do I need ongoing care, or can I start with a one-off consultation?
Many people start with a one-off consultation and move to ongoing care if it feels helpful. This can be discussed during your appointment.
Is this suitable for urgent or emergency problems?
No. This service is not suitable for medical emergencies. If you have urgent symptoms or concerns, you should contact NHS 111, your local emergency department, or emergency services.
How do I book an appointment?
Appointments can be booked online using the booking system. You’ll receive confirmation and instructions ahead of your consultation.
